This is the best application Ive ever used for managing PDF size.
This is the best application Ive ever used for managing PDF size.
First try, took an 8 MB file to 3 MB. Not bad, and the results look pretty good. Itll only do much of anything on an image-heavy document, so those of you trying to reduce the file size on text-only PDFs arent going to get much benefit from this (or any other PDF optimizer, really)… but for anything with lots of photos, images, etc. itll do the trick.
This is program is not only simple to use, it is by far the easiest I have ever used to reduce the sizes of my many PDFs. I had a very minor problem with the last version and contacted the Author. He responded with a remedy in only minutes from the time I emailed him. I could not be happier. Most of my PDFs are smaller and I cannot see that they have diminished in quality one bit.
I file a lot of documents with courts that require file sizes of 3M and below. Since buying this app, I have reduced complex tax returns from 8M docs to 2.3M file sizes. This is exactly what I need and the drag and drop option is PERFECT! If you do any sort of attachment files or uploading of PDF docs, this is a great tool to use! Thank you!
This app helps me so much, easy and work (after tried many same apps). Great !!
I was looking for a pdf reducer at an affordable price. This app blew me away, it reduced all my pdfs in a matter of seconds, and gave me enough options where I didnt feel like it was fully automated. Its so easy to use, definitely recommend this to anyone who needs to reduce their pdfs with a single click. Love the interface too!
I work in an architectural firm and we always have 24"x36" PDFs that we are sending and printing. One had a dozen photos on it and the application we used to put the sheet together apparently didnt compress them. We ended up with a PDF that was over 20 mb and was taking forever to spool on the plotter. I ran it through this little app and it reduced it to under 1 mb. It immediately started printing and the quality was just about the same. I couldnt be happier.
Very simple to use. It does one thing and one thing only, compresses PDF’s with various levels of compression and lets you save them in different formats. That’s what makes it so simple to use. It compressed my 8 MB file down to 0.7 MB with almost the same quality……amazing!
Brilliant solution to an annoying problem. Big thumbs up!
highly recommended very impressesd.
I was messing with ColorSync ulility for hours and nothing worked like this does. This app converts PDFs blazingly fast, I love it! Thank you Daniel Diener!
Simply put a simple tool that simply didnt work! Very disappointed!
I bought this after spending about 20 minutes trying to figure out ways to reduce a PDF’s file size using Color Sync or quartz filters (neither of which allowed me any control) and getting mad because the quality suffered too much from the huge size reduction. For $4, this little app saved me a ton of time and aggravation. I love the presets you can choose from to fine-tune your quality to size ratio.
After playing around with Automator, writing my own scripts and searching for freeware online, I shelled out the $3.99 for this app and my life has been better ever since. Thanks so much for finally making this task easy. I reduced my Mendeley library by 1GB after a first pass through - about to go see if I can shrink it further (*evil grin*). Cheers!
Wonderful app as it allows you to do batch compressions, although you have to do each file one at a time when you save them. The only two minor things that would be a nice addition would be to be able to batch compress the files and save them all at once. The only other thing that is a minor inconvenience is that to clear the list of converted files in the left side of the window you have to quit the program as there is no way to clear the files that have been already processed. Except for these minor items, I’d buy this program again as it’s very fast and super simple to use and the results are outstanding and it is much easier to use this rather than trying to do it in Acrobat Pro 9 which is what I have.
This app works fine on image-heavy pdfs, but not at all on text files, which is most of what I use pdfs for. Acrobat reduces the file size on scanned and downloaded 300 dpi text files by 50%, since most scanners (and Preview) save in pdf version 1.3 and Acrobat X Pro converts to 1.7, eliminates unnecessary fonts, etc. I am looking to replace Acrobat and hope this app will become more useful for text files.
I bought this for $4 thinking Id save some time over online solutions by not having to upload pdfs in order to compress them. Wrong! Any pdf I try to compress only drops about 4-7% regardless of the setting. In times like these, I wish we could opt for a refund. Save your money and stick with online solutions. BUYER BEWARE.
There is only so much an app can do to reduce the size of a pdf. I don’t really understand the alchemy of it all, but I’d suggest the other reviewer find out what is making the pdf so large in the first place. Once you realize that there are limitations, pdf sqeezer’s the best! It’s squeezed down many o’ pdf, leaving them smaller and still looking acceptably good. I do wish it came with a few other tools, like something to sharpen up text a little bit, but the app does what it says on the tin.
Love it but now I can’t get the update. Please fix this.
I was in a huge rush to get PDFs of some articles my wife wrote to email-able size. Squeeze took a 111mb file down to 2.2mb and the quality was excellent. Could have ultimately figured out how to do it my self, but this worked so simply I was happy to pay the developer.
